There are many merchants around Torisia you can trade with. Most of them are specialized in selling items of a certain type (E.g. minerals, food, etc.). You can see all merchants on the map by using a town service filter.

Trade window

You can buy items simply by selecting amount to buy and clicking the "buy" button.

Most of the items use Gold but some items can be bough using only other items

Selling

Most of the items in the game have a value they can be sold for, this value is visible in the item's tooltip. This can be done either by right clicking the item and clicking "sell", dragging it in the trade window or right clicking them while holding shift.

A few items however, cannot be sold.

Items are bought for a various amount of gold, depending on your reputation.

While you're trading, all items in your inventory show the price of their stack.

Inventory items showing their price

All merchants allow you to buy back the items you sell to them. Any other merchant around Torisia will have access to those items. If you reach 20 items in buyback, the oldest added item will permanently disappear.

To buy items back, you have to open the trade window and click the "buyback" tab. You can buy back items the same way as can buy them regularly. These items can be bought for 100% of value (what you can see in the tooltip with trade window closed) so they're more expensive than what you sell them for but still much cheaper than buying new ones. You can buy back only up to the exact amount of items that you sold.

Mass sell

You can set up a mass selling filter by clicking the button right next to "sell all" button. This filter is set universally for all merchants in Torisia.

Mass sell runs from the first inventory slot, checking price and filter for every item. If the merchant cannot afford an item, it skips over it. If it can afford only a portion of a stack (e.g. 40 items from a stack of 99), it will sell as many items as it can before continuing. If there are items you prefer to sell first, you can always move them to first slots of your inventory.

Stock and gold reserves

Most merchants in Torisia have a limited Gold and stock of items. The maximum amount depends on where are they trading - merchants in small villages have a few items and Gold while merchants in cities have way more.

Regenerating

Gold and stock regenerates over time, up to the merchant's maximum capacity.

  • All merchants in Torisia regenerate their Gold / stock by every 15 seconds
  • It takes 30 minutes to regenerate it from 0 to maximum capacity
  • Increasing capacity also increases the regeneration rate

If you buy merchant's items, their Gold can go over their maximum capacity. They will never lose this Gold until you sell them something but they cannot regenerate any Gold while they're at or over their maximum capacity.

Improving merchants

You also slowly improve merchant's capacity by trading with them. Buying items from buyback does not improve the merchants in any way.

All capacity improvements are based on Gold / stock the merchant starts with, not on the current (already upgraded) capacity.

  • Their maximum Gold capacity increases by 2% of all Gold you spend on their items
  • Their maximum Gold capacity increases by 0.5% of all Gold they give you to buy your items

Merchants also increase their stock by trading

  • If you buy an item from them, their maximum capacity for this item is increased by 2%
  • If you sell them an item, their maximum capacity for this item is increased by 0.5% but only if the merchant is also selling the same item
  • The capacity is always rounded down to full number so while with trading, the merchants can have "6.95 Egg", it's rounded to 6 but if you buy one at maximum capacity, the next one will restore quickly.

Example:

Merchant sells 6 Eggs. If you buy all of them, their capacity increases by 12%, to 7.2. If you visit the same merchant later, it will offer 7 Eggs.

Investing

Outside of improving merchants slowly over time as it's limited by their capacity, you can also invest in their shops by talking to them.

Investing in merchant

Invest in capacity

By investing in capacity, you can permanently increase the amount of maximum Gold this merchant can have by 10% (which also increases the regeneration speed by the same amount). This costs 10% of the Gold capacity this merchant is starting with but it increases by on every investment.

Investing in profit share

This option allows you to receive a portion of profit the merchant makes.

  • It costs 50% of the merchant's base Gold (the Gold it's starting with). You can invest up to 5 times in one merchant
  • Every 30 minutes, you gain Gold per one investment
  • This equals to 0.1% of investment cost per minute or 6% per hour. It takes about 16.5 hours for the investment to fully pay off its cost
  • You also receive back 0.5% Gold per investment that you pay to this merchant for their items. Selling items or buying from buyback does not give you this share
  • All Gold from investments is accumulated and sent to you every 2 hours via a delivery pigeon
