Gold is the main currency in Torisia accepted by all merchants.
Your gold is displayed inside of your ability bar.

Obtaining gold
Killing enemies
Most of the enemies generate their gold drop using the following formula. Player luck represents the luck stat without the % symbol (e.g., 50% luck = 50).
Some enemies (Mostly bosses and elites) have their base gold drop set and are using the following formula. Player luck represents the luck stat without the % symbol (e.g., 50% = 50).

Opening chests
Only gold chests can give gold. Their loot is randomly generated using the following formula:

Chest gold drop is further multiplied based on the chest type.

Selling
You can sell all items with a value to any merchant in Torisia.
You can quickly tell how much gold did enemy drop as the dropped pile of gold changes based on the amount of gold in it.
Gold pile if it consists of less than 5 gold
Gold pile if it consists of between 6 and 40 gold
Gold pile if it consists of between 41 and 100 gold
Gold pile if it consists of between 101 and 250 gold
Gold pile if it consists of between 251 and 1000 gold
Gold pile if it consists of over 1001 gold
