Hitpoints determine how much damage you can take before you die. You can increase your hitpoints by using equipment with either vitality or hitpoints.
Restoring hitpoints
There are many ways to restore your hitpoints - mostly by using spells and instant potions.
Dying
If you fail to keep your hitpoints above 0, you will die. When this happens, you have no choice but to load a save file.
