Crystal chest is a chest that always drops 3 crystals (without modifiers). Unlike with enemies, the type of crystals you get are purely random and are not affected by biomes in any way.

Locked gold chest

Crystal chest has a 20% to spawn locked. While locked, you have to use a key but in return, you also get a lot more crystals.

Loot

The loot from crystal chests is the exact same no matter where you are.
