Pigeons are special type of birds as compared to their flying friends, they can also deliver items.
Deliveries
Pigeons can deliver 
Gold, experience or even any items. If there is any delivery queued up, it takes 60 seconds before a pigeon starts flying to you but only if:
This condition is checked only before the pigeon is sent to you. Once it is, it will reach you in a few seconds regardless of conditions. You can accept the delivery by talking to the pigeon after which it will fly away.
If you ignore the pigeon, it will follow you for one minute before flying away anyways. The delivery won't get lost but you will have to wait for another pigeon to try delivering it to you again.
