Bees are friendly animals that cannot bee hit by any attack (why would you even want to do that though?).
Bees fly out of beehives to pollinate plants in up to 150 tiles from their beehive. They always fly to 4 random spots where flowers grow in this radius at the speed of 2 tiles per second - they can fly to already pollinated or gathered plants as well. They also do not fly to plants that give food related materials, like blueberry bushes, carrot plants, etc.
Pollination
If bee reaches a plant spot, it can pollinate it but only if:

If it successfully pollinates this plant, it will sparkle for the next 2 minutes during which it yields 2.5 times more flower materials. This includes both, basic and standard ones. It's also the only way to gather Everbloom dust necessary for crafting unlimited potions. After 2 minutes, this plants gives the original amount of crafting materials when gathered.
On a successful pollination, bees also produce 1 - 2 honey per plant pollinated which can bee obtained by interacting with their beehive once they return.
